The requirements for admission to the Doctor of Nursing in Family Nurse Practice (DNP) are listed below. There is no application fee and GRE scores are not required.

Students without a bachelor’s degree in nursing are encouraged to contact the Office of Graduate Admission at [email protected] as early as possible for guidance on timelines to apply for conditional admission.
Official transcripts indicating a 3.0 GPA or higher in the equivalent of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a higher education program that meets national accreditation standards, as well as some graduate coursework from an accredited college or university, must be submitted by the time of enrollment. For candidates who hold a master’s degree, a grade of B or better must be shown as earned in all nursing courses. Three letters of references from professional colleagues who can speak to your clinical and/or academic potential and who can attest to your ability to successfully engage in doctoral level study in advanced nursing practice. This could include a RN peer, nursing supervisor or faculty member. When completing your application, you will identify your references and they will receive an email link to complete your recommendation online. Applicants to our DNP program who are alumni or currently studying in our FNP program at ÖйúÈËÉ«ÇéÊÓƵ will not be required to supply references.
The application will prompt you to upload your Resume/C.V. and documentation of clinical practice experience. Please include relevant work experience, examples of professional achievement or other information that might be used to assess your personal qualities and your ability to successfully complete graduate level work. At least one year of clinical practice experience as an RN is required.
The application will prompt you to submit a response to the following: Please write a brief essay stating, as specifically as possible, your educational and professional goals. Indicate what you plan to accomplish by enrolling in the doctoral nursing program at ÖйúÈËÉ«ÇéÊÓƵ.
The application will prompt you to upload a signed copy of your RN License. An unencumbered New York State Nursing License is required for consideration. Advanced practice applicants must show proof of national certification in their area of specialization.
Students who are determined to be eligible for admission will be invited to interview in a virtual meeting. This allows for time to answer questions you may have about the program, connect you with faculty members, and learn more about your goals as a future DNP.
Students may transfer up to 18 credits of graduate equivalent course work to meet Proposed DNP, Family Nurse Practitioner Program requirements. A request for transfer credit to meet degree requirements must be made prior to the date of matriculation. All courses considered for transfer or waiver will be evaluated on an individual basis by the Graduate Admissions committee. For candidates who hold a master’s degree, all courses from the applicant’s master’s program will be considered for transfer or waiver and will be evaluated on an individual basis by the Graduate Admission committee.
If admitted to the program, you will be required to accept your admission decision and submit a $250 enrollment deposit. Upon submitting your deposit, you will be registered for coursework and provided with "next steps" for your enrollment.
