    Catholicism and Racism: The Complex Issues of Holding a Global Church

    Anthea Butler, Ph.D., is a scholar of African-American and American religion, her research and writing spans African American religion and history, Nationalism, race, politics, Evangelicalism, gender and sexuality, media, and popular culture.

    Dr. Butler is the Geraldine R. Segal Professor in American Social Thought and Chair of Religious Studies at UPenn, author of "White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America" (2021) and "Women in the Church of God in Christ: Making a Sanctified World" (2007), and frequent commentator and author in the media (including MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNN.
